Artist Statement

ARTIST STATEMENT AND BIO

I am a native Arizonan who loves color. I paint with texture, color, and my soul. The artist Andrew Hamilton wrote: "The tip of your brush is the tip of your soul ”—and so it is for me.   I communicate my gratitude in every painting to the great Creator for allowing me to play in the color and texture of my work .   Besides being very colorful, my work is abstract, and has symbols that express my gratitude for the universal expression of creativity.  You will find an Entity touched by the light of the Creator in all of my recent work as my “thank you” for being allowed to create.  The light of the Creator coming into the painting may also be expressed by descending golden squares.  Spirals represent the journey to the center of being.  Some of my paintings may be influenced by songs that have special meaning for me or communicate stories in a universal way.

I received my higher education from Arizona State University and hold Masters Degrees in both Counseling and Home Economics. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.  In 2008, I was at a crossroads in my  life due to ill health when I picked up a brush and discovered my artistic self. I immersed myself in the colors daily and found my passion. And passionate I am about my art, painting for several hours each day and studying with master artists to increase my skills and understanding. I am married, have 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. My husband and I currently reside in Scottsdale, and have studios in both Payson, AZ and Scottsdale, AZ.

I am a juried artist with both the Arizona Art Alliance and the Sonoran Arts League.  I do many shows throughout Arizona as well as the Arizona Fine Arts Expo in the spring of each year.

My work may be seen at Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale,  Fountain Hills Artists Gallery in Fountain Hills, Artists of the Rim Gallery in Payson, and  Books and Blessings at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale.  I feel that my paintings are a unique expression from my spirit.  They spring from that deep well within that is truly who I am. I hope you enjoy them.
